Projects

It takes a lot of work to manage parks! Much of that work is day-to-day weed mitigation, trash pickup, and trail maintenance. YRPA also builds structures to increase comfort and accessibility. Those include:

Benches: We have built and installed more than 90 benches throughout Billings. Benches are requested and installed in honor of loved ones. While we make every attempt to locate a bench at a place of the donor’s choice, certain limits do apply. The cost is $1,000. Click here to contact us.

Picnic Shelters: What’s a riverside trail or park without someplace to picnic? Generally the most expensive projects, our shelters are a popular attraction. We have a number of picnic shelters of different designs throughout our parks.

Bridges: Where there are rivers, streams, and ditches with trails crossing them, we build bridges.  These projects come up on an irregular basis but we do get them installed.  Wendell’s Bridge, which offers access to Norm’s Island, was one of our very first projects. There are five different bridges at John H Dover Memorial Park, including an urbanite bridge of dry-stacked concrete chunks and a 110-foot suspension bridge over a deep coulee.
